The key to any successful Club is great communication with its players, parents, supporters and members. Hawks FC have setup a number of channels and mechanisms to make communication effective, accurate, timely and convenient. Below is a summary of the channels available:
Email is primarily used to contact players and members about specific issues such as registrations, team placement etc. We issue a periodic newsletter titled HAWKS SQUAWK with general information about upcoming events and general news stories.
We do not send emails that are time critical such as cancellations or changes to programs. Such notifications are delivered through other channels. If you are not receiving emails from us, it is likely that you may have entered an incorrect email address.
WEBSITE
We regularly post on our website NEWS stories and information about our programs. It's a great source of information about what's happening around your club and the products and services we provide. Most information you are needing to know about your club is posted on our website.
One special feature of our website is the FIELD STATUS on our homepage. It is regularly updated with the status of all of our fields and whether they are OPEN or CLOSED and any special instructions to teams. This is updated as soon as a decision is made to CLOSE a field.

FACEBOOK PAGE
Our Facebook page has recently changed names from The Nest @ Dittmer to Mt Gravatt Hawks FC as part of the club's rebranding of its social media and website. We are also changing the use of the page to be more in sync with our website NEWS. This page will be used to post general news about our club, new products and services, events, promotions and of course our increasingly popular Throwback Thursday segment.
We ask everyone to visit our page www.facebook.com/mtgravatthawks and LIKE it so that it will regularly appear on your news feed. We also ask our members to engage more with our page by liking posts, sharing it on your timeline and tagging friends that might be interested in our posts.
FACEBOOK GROUP
We are making some changes and we have just launched a Facebook Group called Mt Gravatt Hawks FC - Members Only. This group will be used to post wet weather updates, training cancellations, changes to programs or training and other internal communications about changes that are occurring. If you are a Facebook user, this is one of the best ways to be kept up to date about our teams and general information about the club.
This is a closed group and we encourage members to post photos and other items to help us all share what's happening across our club and our teams.

TEAM APP
We have our own smartphone app which is 100% FREE to join.
By downloading Team App, you'll be kept updated with training cancellations, important notifications, news, events, fixtures and much more. For those needing something that will send them a notification or an alert regarding training cancellations etc, this is the perfect channel.
To get the full features of Team App you need to go to the App Store or Google Play and download Team App onto your smartphone or tablet.
Once downloaded you need to:
Sign-up to Team App. You'll be sent an e-mail to confirm your registration
Log-in and search for Mt Gravatt Hawks FC, then select to become a member
WET WEATHER PROCEDURES
We don't like to close our fields, but they are an extremely expensive maintenance item for our clubs which is funded by our members, so we will close fields to avoid damaging our fields. When fields are closed we will implement the following Wet Weather Procedures:
Training
On Training Days we will try and leave the closure of our grounds as late as possible. We will typically inspect and make a decision around 4pm each day. If it is obvious that the fields are going to be closed sooner, an advice will be issued earlier. Sometimes it is necessary to close fields after 4pm (such as a late afternoon storm) and these circumstance are typically out of our control. If you are using our Team App you will receive a notification via your smart device.
Game Day
On Game Days we will inspect our fields at 7am (4pm for Friday night games) and make a decision as to the condition of our grounds. We will post cancellations or changes on our channels as well as inform Football Brisbane of our closure. This only applies to our home games ONLY.
Football Brisbane posts Cancellation for ALL CLUBS (so for away games you will need to check Football Brisbane's website regularly - www.footballbrisbane.com.au/copy-of-wet-weather and select Senior Ground Closures or Junior Ground Closures

When Cancellations occur at our grounds we will post information on these channels:

Facebook Group - www.facebook.com/groups/395815994563088/ (check the group for any posts) - NOTE: We will no longer be posting Cancellations on the Official Facebook Page)
Team App - this is the best way to be notified as you will be sent a notification (keep notifications on) so you'll never miss a cancellation
PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE CLUB PHONE - The person answering the Club Phone will most likely not know the status of the fields.
